National Issue – Abortion

SANCTITY OF LIFE

Abortion is a key issue in VITAL SIGNS.  Since the Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973, more than 50 million lives have been lost.

That’S 1.5 million babies each year;

4,000 babies every day;

1 baby every 20 seconds.

And that’s just here in America!

Sanctity of Life

There is currently underway in some States a push against late-term abortions, partial-birth abortions, and teenage abortions (without parental consent). Still other states are introducing legislation that would give the aborting mother the option of seeing an ultrasound of her unborn child. All of these are intended to reduce abortion in America.

Another epidemic is sweeping America and that is the matter of euthanasia. Life is sacred at conception; and it is sacred until God takes it. New legislation such as the health care reform act passed in 2010 will serve to further encourage the practice of euthanasia and/or assisted suicides (remember “pull the plug on Grandma”).

PERSONALLY: We must pray and speak up in support of the sanctity of life from birth to natural death.  You may want to consider more active involvement in sanctity of life groups.

POLITICALLY:  We must ensure that the candidates we elect hold to a pro-life view.

SCRIPTURAL FOUNDATIONS:

Psalm 106:37-38 :They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons,

And shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with the blood.

Psalm 127:3 – Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Psalm 139:13-16 “For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother’s womb . I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Thy works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from Thee, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth. Thine eyes have seen my uniformed substance; And in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.

Matthew 28:1-9 1At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

2He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5“And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. 6But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

7“Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! 8If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

Deut. 19:10.  Do this so that innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the LORD your God is giving you as your inheritance, and so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed.

Deut. 19:13  Show him no pity. You must purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, so that it may go well with you

2 Kings 24:4  …including the shedding of innocent blood. For he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the LORD was not willing to forgive.

Prayers for the Abortion Issue

The following prayers are from our members for the national issue of Abortion.

|
  1. I pray that those in charge will end abortion. When I think how many there has been I feel sick. Being a person who has had miscarriges itreally hurts when I see and hear about abortion. Pray Dear Jesus that an end will come soon.Amen

  2. CAROL MAYO says:

Life begins at conception! My grand-daughter, who had been trying to get pregnant for 3 year, who after many tests, had an ultra sound to rule out fibroid tumors, and found she was pregnant. She was only 1 week late (not unusual) and she saw the little heart beating . When the heart starts beating, it is a living being. A month later, she was only 7 weeks, she could see the little head, spine , and the buds what will be arms and legs. This tells me that that baby was alive before the mother knew she was pregnant. Being an RN myself, in my studies I know that before a woman suspects she may be pregnant, that little hear is beating and the brain stem and spine are being formed. We need to stop abortion in it’s tracks, and stop any thoughts of euthanasia before it becomes an issue. The govt. is meddling in God’s domain, to the detriment of the people of the USA

  3. Rebecca says:

God is a God of Mercy and Love, He is ready and willing to forgive, comfort and heal each one. I don’t like it when people say Pro-life believers are full of hate. I don’t hate anyone, but I hate the lies told to young girls and women.
“It’s your only choice!” “No one wants this baby!” “It will ruin your life!”
“I won’t love you if you have this baby!” “There will be something wrong with the baby!”
The truth is you have many choices, so many women want a baby and can’t have one. You can give the greatest gift to them with a little sacrifice from you.
There is always hope for the future, a new life can never take that away.
Think of all the choices before you give up your baby. God Bless.

  4. Creator Father precious is all of your creation.
I pray for all mankind to understand your will that all life is precious. I pray that they will be touched by the Holy Spirit to be guided in their decisions by submitting to your will.
For those that know you not may they somehow know their decision to kill or allow killing would be wrong. May they be drawn to know you and receive your son as their saviour and be blessed by the knowledge of how you want for each of us to love one another whether we are yet born or not. May all life become precious to them.
May each of us that know your truth be respectful of those that do not and help lead each of them to your ways.
Thank you Father for all life and our opportunity to serve you.

Candidate’s Position

BARACK OBAMABARACK OBAMA:  The President has a consistent pro-abortion rights stance. “I am committed to protecting this constitutional right. I also remain committed to policies, initiatives, and programs that help prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant women and others, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption. …The government should not intrude on private family matters.”  USA Today, January 22, 2011.

NEWT GINGRICH

NEWT GINGRICH:  Pro-life.   “Abortion is perhaps the most contentious public issue today, testing the professed American principle that every human life is precious and entitled to constitutional protection. As with any public policy, the more strongly public opinion is swayed in defense of unborn life, the more our laws should and will change as a result. “ A Nation Life No Other by Newt Gingrich, p. 92, June 13, 2011.

RON PAULRON PAUL:  Pro-life.  “The strength of love for liberty in our society can be judged by how we treat the most innocent among us. It’s time to elect a President with the courage and conviction to stand up for every American’s right to life.” Ron Paul for President Website

MITT ROMNEY

MITT ROMNEY:  Pro-life.  “I am pro life and believe that abortion should be limited to only instances of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother. I support the reversal of Roe v. Wade because it is bad law and bad medicine.” From Romney Believe in America website, June 18, 2011.

RICK SANTORUMRICK SANTORUM:  Pro-life.  “I believe that life begins at conception and that life should be guaranteed under the Constitution. … We are endowed by our created with certain inalienable rights and the right is life. And I believe that that life should be protected at the moment it is a human life. And at conception it is biologically human, and it’s alive. It’s a human life; it should be a person under the Constitution.” NBC Transcript of Meet the Press, June 12, 2011.
